OK folks! Here's my 1961 Chevy 283 cid V8 convertible taken at Jackson drag strip in the summer of 1961. Notice the newly acquired trophy resting upon the hood. It was a Class "E" stock entry which dominated the drags in my neck of the woods for about 2 years. I generally whipped over the 1/4 mile finish line at 88 mph and in the low 14 second bracket. On the highway, I could get 26 mpg at 70 mph. It was a great car which cost me the magnificent sum of $2600 new. Gasoline was selling for 22 cents per gallon at the time. After grinding out 188,000 trouble-free miles, I gave it to one of my brothers.
