Note on photographs of decapitated heads in Angola:
As in many similar incidents elsewhere in Africa, African insurgents in Angola were indoctrinated by their witch doctors (and Communist political cadres) to believe that -- all appearances to the contrary notwithstanding -- they would always return to life unless they were decapitated.
The Portuguese were not supposed to know this. They did know it.
Result: Africans who attacked them were decapitated to prove that if you attacked them, you really would die.

This isn't an "atrocity", it's the simple demonstration that when people think they can't be killed, they can be.
